REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE TRANSFERS OF WASTE


November 27th and December 4th 2007 : publishing of regulations amending and supplementing the regulation (CE) n° 1013/2006 on shipments of waste.

July 12th 2007 : coming into force of the regulation of European parliament and council, on June 14th 2006, on shipments of waste, published in JOUE on July 12th 2006 n° L190.

CThis regulation replaces the council regulation (CEE) n° 259/93 of February 1st 1993 on the supervision and control of shipments of waste into and out of the European community. It aims to strengthen, simplify and clarify existing procedures for monitoring of shipments of waste. It reduces the risk of shipments of uninspected waste. It also aims to incorporate into community legislation the amendments to the list of waste attached to the Basel convention and the C (2001)107 FINAL decision of the council concerning the revision of the decision on the control of cross-border movements of wastes intended for valorisation operations adopted by the economic cooperation and development organization (OCDE) in 2001.
The regulation reduces to 2 the number of authorized lists for the transfer of waste:

waste subject to information (annex III),
waste subject to the notification procedure (annex IV of the regulation)

Regulation (CE) n° 1379/2007 from November 26th 2007, which has come into effect on November 30th 2007 amends the annexes IA, IB and VII of the regulation 1013.206. These changes were made necessary following the 8th conference of the parties to the Basel convention.
